Hey all,
It's been a long time since I've posted anything significant, but ive been trolling.
I've been running a 40 gallon reef tank for about 4 years now. It's been a very low maintenance tank, but since my son was born last January, I decided to get both feet in the water.
First, my good friend Brian told me about a store that I knew nothing about.
Caribbean Blue Aquatics Aquarium in Bayshore, Sunrise Highway.
This store is (bar none) the coolest Reef addict store I have ever seen on the island. It even blows away the old Country Critters when Steve was there.
These guys beat (by A LOT) every other store on the price of the Deep Blue RR 120 I was looking for. The savings paid for my return pump and some.
I bought an Aqua Excel DC pump.
Next, I purchased a pair of Arctic-T247 LED Aquarium Lights.
I was looking at the Reefbreeder and Kessil lights, but didn't want to spend $800 for Kessils and Reefbreeder did not have any current lights I needed in stock.
I've heard some good things about the T247's from other seasoned reefers here.
We'll see how well they work. At the price I paid, I won't be too disappointed if they don't work as well as in hoping. At that point I'll just bite the bullet and buy Kessils or Radions...
I'm adding sand and water to the tank this weekend. I'm going to reuse as much of the old Aquariums water and sand as I can.
Luckily, my buddy Brian Buckhout gave me some awesome Tonga branch a couple of months ago. My current tank now has too much rock, but once I move everything over, I will need to cherry pick some rock from somewhere/someone.
I attached a picture of the tank. I will add more as the build moves forward.
Thanks for reading along!:spin1:
