new 120 setup log

I see...I keep my ballasts and all that in the back room, so I've got all the wires going back there. Plus, I have an AC jr controller with the controller display part in my stand, but the DC8 is in the back for all the items controlled by it, plus the temp and pH probes have to go back through there as well.
 
This is the very early days of this sump...only pic I have available right now. As you look at the opening, where the power strip on the left is, is where my DC 8 is now. Powerstrip moved across to the other side of the opening now. To the left of the powerstrip in the picture I put a board across and hung my ballasts from it. I now have a separate fuge on a shelf above this sump and my skimmer is in the middle section. I'm about to set up a 20g topoff tank with a Tunze osmolator on the end next to where the return pump is. This holds about 30 gallons.

looking at your frame again....do you have some some supports near the back. Looks like 2x4 with 45 degree angles? Just want to make sure I know what I am seeing.
 
they are 2x6 and i am still debating on if i should put a back 2x4 brace in the center or not or if i should put on front and back. still debating any suggestions?
 
I would put a 2x4 brace in the center at the front and back. Will help with any sagging. Thats what I am planning for my 40 gallone breeder.

My frame is going to look pretty close to yours. I think a 40 will be very safe on 2x6's
 
considering looking at some of the stands u can buy, the ones built even out of 2x4 are alot more heavy then those. so i think i might put the extra braceing in there.
 
who thinks a vortech would be nice on that tank

nice tank! I have never plumbed my own set up. 2 ques on th e over flow what is the purpose of the the straight piece of pipe with the caps on it going up a few inches from the 90 degree bend. What function does the clear tubing do coming out of the tops of the caps? Thank you
