that is going to be sweet. I always wanted to do an in-wall between our living room and bedroom so the tank could be viewed from both sides

Looks awesome! And you have your own fish room too. Just one thing I wanted to mention is that I'm not sure you want to put the foam under a manufactured glass tank. The tank is supposed to sit on the bottom trim and not have pressure on the glass. I know you want to use the pink foam with glasscages glass tanks only if they tell you to or with acrylic tanks. You risk the bottom actually cracking from what I've read because of pressure spots. If you already made all your measurements etc then I would just remove the foam and add another piece of wood instead with the same thickness. Anyway I am envious because I always wanted to knock a wall out for that!

This depends on the tank manufacturer. Check with them to find out if you need foam support over the whole bottom or if the tank just sits on it's own edges. I've had 180g tanks done both ways. My current tank is made to be supported on the entire bottom w/a foam layer.

Edit - if the tank has the big thick bottom trim that clearly sticks down past the bottom glass surface, then you can be pretty sure that it is meant to support itself around the edges and you don't want a foam layer in that case...

When I was going to start my build on my stand. Both lowes and home depot said there is no way they would put pressure treated wood in the house. There was also a huge thread about it in the reef discussion and they recommended someone who built it out of pressure treated wood to take it down and rebuild. I will look for it. If anyone knows what I am talking about jump in. Just looking out for you....

Same here, when I was going to build the stand for my 375 both lowes and home depot told me the same thing. I wanted 4x4's and they told me to glue 2 2x4's together fro almost the same strength. They said the pressure treated will release chemicals over time in the air (falmaldihide???) don't remember but I thought they said that. I asked if I could seal it to keep it it and they said no-do not use it indoors. ISorry for the bad news but hope this helps.

thanks but my last stand i built from pressure treated wood and dint have any problems in the same type of senerio. that room will be closed off from the rest of the house and seperatly venilated
