New 265 Setup Question

I have a question regarding whether or not to put a sheet of foam board under a glass tank or not? I have read where you are only supposed to do this when installing a acrylic aquarium but I have also seen this done on some glass setups as well. Is there a reason why some people say not to use this on a glass setup? Would this help with a slightly (1/4" over 7') unlevel tank? Would the aquarium "settle" to a level state?

Any info will greatly help!!

Depends on the tank. If it has trim on the bottom that spaces the glass up so the glass doesn't touch the stand, then no, you don't need foam. The trim supports the tank. You can actually do more damage to this type of tank by putting foam under it. The foam can create pressure points on the tank and cause problems.

If the tanks trim isn't designed to raise the bottom of the tank then use foam under it to support the bottom of the tank and take up any minor imperfections in the stand.

You should level your stand, not the tank. I wouldn't rely on the foam to correct unlevelness, in fact it won't. Shim your stand until the tank is level.

Make sure you start a build thread.. I'd like to follow along, I have the same size tank.
