new 30 gallon sump help

Have a 30G sump pictured bellow.

IM not sure what I can put in it. IM NEW to the hobby and I was thinking a
bubble magnus curve 7 skimmer in the middle.

im not sure what kind of sump this is but there are small 2" baffles in the second compartment and if I set my skimmer on that ill only have 9" of water when that skimmer I think needs 10" Not sure how this works or why there are those small baffles in that second compartment.. I bought this sump used.

first one in pic on left I believe is the intake. Really weird design. Im thinking it was used as a wet/dry filter. THey probaly used sponges, etc in the second compartment. Like I said weird sump design.

I think these acrylic tanks made by a company
Called "ecosystems" had a sim design ..

I have a sponge in that 3rd compartment
I just don't know where to put a skimmer ..
In the second on top of those baffles?
The intake (1st compartment) is real small..
I wish I could remove those baffles
Guess I can just set the skimmer on top..

you dont want to use a sponge not for saltwater. This sump is designed for wet/dry sump it looks like.

Yeah I would use the first one for tank drain, second compartment for skimmer and last one for return. Your skimmer water depth is 9.5"-11" so see if the water level is in that range with skimmer on top of those baffles.

It's the skimmer water depth I'm worried about
I measured 9.5"

At 11" it would flow over the last baffle..
