New 5.5g setup

I've been using my 5.5g mainly as a hospital tank for some rescued corals and storage spot for misc. bits of rubble for a few months, and got sick of looking at a box of water with some stuff randomly thrown in so...
Yesterday I took a trip to the LFS for some cured LR and today I did my best to beautify my pico. Now these guys have a fancier place to recover :)

Here are some pics - the corals are still VERY angry with me and the water's still cloudy, these were taken about two hours after the overhaul.

The equipment is pretty simple - just a small PH, small HOB with a little sponge (which is covered in 'Q-tip' sponges and pods), and an 80W Satellite PC light fixture. This tank is inside the base of my 30g nano reef but they're not plumbed together. It's over to one side so there's room to take the light off if needed.

Thank you so much :)
I paid way too much for that rock, but chose it because of the shapes - in a tiny tank there's nowhere to hide that one ugly piece, lol. I have to say the only thing I don't like about this tank is that I have to sit on the floor to enjoy it (it's inside the stand of my 30g nano). :D

Okay, I'm gonna get flamed for this but I wanted to post an updated pic. I brought home a green clown goby for the tank today, he's been in quarantine at work (LFS) for three weeks now and is eating well. I also brought home two teeny clowns for the 65g and realized my mistake when I got them home - my damsel and angels would eat these guys for lunch! I guess I'm going to have to set up something more permanent for them, but for now they're in the pico. I'll keep a close eye on the water and have lots of SW already mixed & heated so I can do changes as needed in case there's a spike.

Here's the tank tonight, after lights out. The flash was on so the colours look funny, but you can see the corals are starting to open up. The clown goby is near the top, perching in the candycane. It's only been a few hours and already the clowns have found the poor brain coral and are rolling around in it like little pigs in mud

Oh... sorry about the MagFloat, I didn't want to scare the fish removing it.

These little guys are so much fun! All the levels are just fine, no spike yet, and the fish are settling in nicely. One clown hasn't eaten yet, but seemed more interested this evening than yesterday. The two clowns are squabbling like little kids, lots of shimmying going on but no biting or anything.

They've started venturing out to explore...

But they REALLY like the brain best, it seems to make them feel safe.

Oh, no, let me clarify...
There's no anemone in there, and as I said above I brought the two clowns home for the 65g and then realized just how small they are - if I put these two in with my halfblack and flagfin angel they'll get hurt, they need to do some growing and settling in first. It wasn't my intention to house them in the 5.5g for any length of time; if the bioload proves too much I'll set up a grow-out tank for the clowns until they're strong enough to defend themselves against the big boys.
I'm doing daily 2g water changes (40%). NO2 rose to 0.3ppm after the first day, and seems to go from 0 to 0.1 in 24h so the water changes are keeping it down until the rock catches up.
One of the clowns is more hesitant to eat than the other, so tonight I tried Cyclopeeze - both came to the surface and went crazy! I was worried about the little guy, but think he's going to be just fine :)

Here's a pic from last night. They're leaving the safety of the brain coral and starting to explore their tiny world :)

He's lovely, thanks for asking :D
I work p/t at a LFS, we got a shipment of green and yellow clown gobies in a few weeks ago. Most of them wouldn't eat and ended up dying, it was so sad, but this guy's a trooper and eats like a pig. I kept seeing his adorable little face pop up out of the rocks and just couldn't leave him there, IME it's really rare to find a fat clown goby with a big appetite at the LFS. Once the clowns are out he'll have this tank all to himself with lots of little coral frags to perch on - I think that will please him, he seems to be a little irritated by them :)

i love clown gobies! i have a yellow & green that thankfully are both eating like piggies on cyclop-eeze, crushed mysis & teeny, tiny pellets. i'm glad yours are eating because a lot of times they never eat just like you mentioned.

Cool! Everything zeroed out tonight, I guess they weren't kidding when they said this was cured rock. I'm still watching everything carefully, and I'm a little worried about one clown who isn't very interested in eating, but it looks like they're okay for now :)
