New 55gal sump

just picked up a 55g and am building a new stand to give me room to use it as a sump for my 75. Anyone here using a 55gal as a sump? id love to see how you did it.
otherwise sometime in the near future i might be looking for a new skimmer or a pump to drive my aqua c hob.
also will have a stand up for sale/trade that im currently using.
hopefully i can get a nice sized fuge in this sump and take some of this macro out of my dt...oh yea..will be looking for your extra macro clippings! :fun4:

I'm using a 55g sump. The flow is from left to right. Since taking this picture I've added some mangroves, rock, and replaced the light with a clip on desk lamp with a curly fri bulb. Using that $10 lamp my macro has grown much more quickly and filled both refugium chambers!

ah nice! thanks for the pic..looks like a good layout to me, did you make the sump or buy it already made? i need to get glass cut..heard hd and lowes can do it, just have to figure out the dimensions i need.

55 gal sump, skimmer chamber, sandbed and macro fuge chamber, then live rock chamber. bubble trap, then return chamber with phos reactor and autotopoff sensor.

Savage, if you're getting your glass in Tucson look up a company called Geronimo LTD. They're on the south side of town and are local. I buy my 1/4" glass from them (NON-tempered) and they get me pieces for about $10 each cut to measure with the edges knocked down.

Home depot, lowes, and some ace's will cut glass. Just remember not to go up all the way on the dividers, leave room for it to fill up in a power outage.

i have a 55 that cracked on the end it has the baffles that i put in a couple of months ago. you could cut the silicone out and reuse the baffles. trade for a frag

Summers, that sounds good to me =] as far as frags go I'll take a look at what I have, anything in particular your looking for? I have plenty of shroom, no sps (always dies on me) hmm a large Kenya tree (I think) and some green zoos

i have a nice chunk of metallic gsp... most of my stuff in my tank is frag size im letting grow out, i have some green zoos or green button polyps. if any of these interest you lmk ill send you a pic. but i do have plenty shrooms!
