Hi RC. Been creeping around here forever [emoji3]
I've got a 12g nano AIO I've been running for about a year. So I still consider myself new to the hobby, although I spent many years doing freshwater. It's been great! Time to upgrade to a 60g cube I just bought from the LFS. I'll be running a DIY 12g sump with a reef octupus 110 skimmer.
My question is...
I am going to be plumbing my display 60g on the main floor, and running the sump down into my existing fish room in the basement for ease of water changes, sound, etc. And NO DAMN PAILS! Lol had enough of those in the past. Right now I have a 240g freshwater display with a 70g sump in my fish room. I'm thinking about emptying the fresh system, and hooking into my new 60g salt display.
So I would have a mixed reef display on my main floor. It would overflow down to the 240, overflow to the 70, and get pumped back up to the display. I am wondering on the feasibility of this, any ideas of what I could do with such a system, and of any problems or pitfalls I could run into.
I'm thinking of running the 240 bare bottom, mainly as added volume only. Maybe a frag rack or two. Then use my 70 as the sump/refugium.
What do you guys think? I can put up pictures of anything if it would help.
Thanks!
Derek
