New 65 Gallon and DIY Skimmer

I know I don't post on here very often, but I'd just like to share with the locals that I upgraded from a 46 gallon bowfront to a 65 gallon two weeks ago. So far i'm very happy with it! I also decided to give a shot at constructing a DIY "euro-reef modeled" protein skimmer. It's nothing compared to some of the crazy DIY's I've seen, but for a highschool student and less that $20 it's not too bad !

Hey, I'm glad to see that you upgraded. Are those arches Aragocrete or natural? For less than $20 that is an incredible skimmer. I'm glad to see the Wellso is doing well.

Thanks! I'm glad I finally did too! The arches are actually all natural live rock, the 3 base pieces were originally dry rock (but that was like 2 years ago).
Honestly, the skimmer was a PITA to build since I basically built it from tupperware containers from Wal-Mart and a picture of the EuroReef RS-80. But now that I know what NOT to do in the process of making one, it wouldn't be nearly as hard to build another. I'm glad I even pulled it off succesfully, very surprised it works as well as it does.
The Wellso is doing excellent, he's still as large and blue/green as ever!

thats a very nice setup you have there, good job on the diy skimmer. anytime you can save money in this hobby its a plus no matter who you are.
