New 75 Gallon Tank!

Hi, so I just finished the multi month process of setting up a new tank. It has been running for two weeks now, and I am not really sure where I am in the cycling process. I have been feeding 1-2 Frozen Cubes for the whole two weeks. On Friday I fed two cubes, and two algae wafers. I am seeing ammonia at somewhere between 0-.25 Nitrites and nitrates are at 0. Shouldn't I be seeing higher ammonia? The lights are off, as well as the protein skimmer. Rest of stats attached, as well as pictures.

Ph is 7.85
Temp 79
ORP 252
Salinity 1.24
Alk 9
Calcium 420
Magnesium 1245

Buy some cocktail shrimp and enjoy eating them all except one, throw it in the tank, it may spike the ammonia faster than frozen cubes.

mmmmm shrimp n cocktail sauce.....now I want some ;[

Did you use cured rock and love sand? Might not have a large spike a lot of rock now days is cured enough to not fully cycle your new tank depending on what and where the rock is from.

That's a neat setup, I also have a 75g reef. It took my about 5 weeks to get my tank cycled. I think throwing a piece of shrimp in it might help, but you can also just sit and wait the tank to cycle naturally.

One advise, DONT RUSH, I did that and got ick, had to spend money and time to cure my tank and fish. Be patient and it will pay off.

Good luck! ;)

By the way, did you get the tank at Petco? Did it come it the lids or you've purchased/fabricated somewhere else? My wife broke my glass lids the very first day in which we got the tank. She wanted to "clean it"...

Just a side note that glass covers impede the exchange of gas process which lowers oxygen in your water and depresses PH. Maybe you should thank her?

I know but I still would like to have my lids intact.

My tank is running with some mesh lid I made out of homedepot stuff...
