New 75 gallon TBS tank

Well I started my new 75 gallon tank that will have all TBS live rock in it. I am sending this a little late since I got the rock almost two weeks ago. I have been very busy but wanted everyone to see what is going on with it so far.

Richard all is well and the ammonia never really got above (.8) but is currently at (.6). I did do two water changes every time it got to (.8) because that is as high as my test kit goes so I did not want it to get higher than that. I am starting to notice new stuff coming out of the rock so that is a good sign.

I am sending a few pics but I will send more as it matures so enjoy :) Sorry about the pics I am not the best photographer.

By the way if anyone knows what this is let me know. It looks like a snail with no shell. I have searched the net but I cannot find out what is is yet. The pic is terrible I know but here is what I have of it. Good luck :)

It is a polyclad flatworm. Almost always predatory. Usually on mollusks. Not too big of a deal unless you are going to have an expensive clam. Best to remove now as they are hard to find later when you really want it out. Just toss him in the sump and let nature take its course.

Funny you say that because that is where I found him this morning. Swimming around in my sump like a stingray. Have not seen him yet tonight but I might capture him and take it to the Ocean tomorrow and let it go.

Thanks

Looks great!
I got a couple of those baby urchins too. And the one i got back in January that was that size is now bigger than a golf ball!

I have a urchin that is purple in color that I put in my sump. I will put him back in the main tank as soon as I see what bad critters I still have to capture. I got two Gorilla craps out so far but I see I have at least three more.

I noticed tonight that the Ammonia is at .4 and the Nitrite has never got above .2 with this tank. Which I think is really weird because I can see the silica explosion in the process right now. I must have missed the big Nitrite spike with the test kit. Oh well everything is looking ok so far

That has to be the most fun with TBS rock, hunting for all the critters, I used to stay up till midnight with a flash light the first 6 months I got my TBS.

Amen! Thats the BEST part of TBS rock, the TON of hitchikers you get. I was still finding new stuff in the tank 9 months after I got the rock!

You might want to keep an eye on that red crab in the fourth picture I had 3 of them and they turned pretty agressive towards my coral beauty and also liked to pick on my frog spawn. The rock is awsome tho I love to watch the stuff moving.

Awesome Richard :) I would love some Macros. I will be around Tampa the next two days so let me know when or Email me :)

I moved some sand out of my Refugium and I found this crab. He was probably already in the tank from the 2nd half but I could not see him till I got the white sand in there. Looks like a decorator crab but does anyone have a positive ID?
