New 90g All Because Of Dori

Looking good. I think your other camera took much better pictures though. I used to think how clear the pictures were. These aren't even close to your quality you used to have. They are still nice but I liked your others better.
This camera definately takes better pictures than my old one, most of these are all free hand and not on a Tripod. When I start using the Tripod for most of my shot's, you will se a bigger difference.

Here is a picture from the old camera and a fresh picture from today, you can see the clairty in the new picture compared to the old picture.

If you look at the piece of LR under the orange cap, you can see that some detail is missing in the first picture compared to the 2nd picture. You can also see more detail in the Green Montipora Cap in comparison from the old camer to the new camera. The first picture is a 3mp camera and the second picture is a 4mp camera.

It must be the acrylic tank then but I definetly do see the difference. Either that or I'm going nuts!

You are right, the Acrylic has the Crystal Clear look and Glass does not unless you get Starphire Glass. I checked the price on getting a 90g Starphire glass tank, and it was 1k basically where I only payed $374 for this 90g.

I am in love with your skunk clowns...those are the first pictures I have really seen of them!

Your tank is looking just beautiful!!

Thanks sage1970 and kylemac!

My wife had her eye on the skunk clowns for some time and my pair of ocellaris clowns never left the upper left corner of the tank. So I traded the pair of Ocellaris for the pair of Skunk Clowns and everyone is happy.

Let me jump in here too..My wife just came in and said ..YES !! that's it !! that's the tank I want in this room! So want's your price ? I'll come and get it tonight!...just kidding..I can sure see me and her setting down beside that and reading or just talking..Thanks for the pic's and congratulations that's an awesome tank ! Wanda and Charles

I've read that a hippo shouldn't be in a smaller tank than 8'. Though I don't fully agree with that I would think a 6' tank should be minimum with a hippo after they get some size to them.

Your tank looks great though!

The experts say that each tang claims a 7' by 3' area in the wild, so the perfect condition would be a 7' by 3' tank minimum per tang that you wish to keep. This is pretty unrealistic for most people keeping tangs in there tanks and a lot swim together in the Ocean, but that is what was said by the experts about what they claim in the Ocean.

Tangs are free swimming and can roam some pretty large distances.

Bio-load on that tank must be getting up there with all the fish and an Eel.

Yes, I have a high bioload. I do a water change every 4 days right now and my nitrates are coming down. Pretty soon I will be at one 12g water change a week, which is pretty typical of me. I will also fit in an extra water change here and there to keep things nice and happy. I have one more fish right now than I had in the 3ft 55g tank and things have settling in pretty good.

My Nitrates are down now sitting around 5-10ppm and I am doing a water change every 5-6 days, which is good.

Here are some latest pictures, I just love a lot of color. Just a few more colorful zoa's and some nice colorful acropora and a birdsnest and I am there I think. It is very hard to get a really good closeup picture of something with intense blue it seems. My Frogspawn has gone from having 4 heads when I purchased it, to having 14 heads now over about a year or so.

My only comparable tank is my 75 (+30g refuge), it gets a 25 gallon water change every week.

Thanks for the compliment chocolateblnt!

Wow, a 33% water change every week is a lot to change every week. I know that Amanda had a 75g, she did a 17g water change weekly and had 17 fish.

How many fish do you have in your tank?

Tank has:
Pair mated Maroons
Purple Tang (recue from a 30 gallon tank, still juvenile)
Banded Goby
3 FireFish Goby's
Rabbit Fish (FoxFace)
And mostly SPS stuff

This w/c takes me about 10 minutes. I kill the pumps, drain the sump/fuge with a python and then refill it from the resevoir tank (38 gallon breeder tank I got for $30 new) If it was a hassle, I would not do it so I made sure it was easy :D

It takes me about 20 minutes to do my water change, which is not bad at all I think.

It costs a bit for salt to do that much in water changes though, I would think you could get away with a 12g water change and it would save you $20 a month in salt. I mean $20 is not a ton of money, but $20 saved is $20 earned which is $240 a year.

Since you have the dwarf angel in there, I think the easiest way to reduce nutrients would be to lose the lamark. I'm not an eel lover myself but I can understand the infatuation...He would probably be a no compromise for you, but IMO the biggest culprit to your nutrient problem by far. Ultimately, the Hippo will get too large for that tank and you will have to make another decision of whether to go bigger or trade him in. It's tuff RJ, but the fact that you show dedication in caring for your corals and inhabitants shows that you are willing to learn and maintain that balance. Beautifull tank BTW.
