new acro, browning, zero polyp extension, prognosis?

I ordered three fiji acros and dipped them in Revive.

Within a day or two they turned brown and I see zero polyp extension.

Two weeks later, the colors continue to deteriorate, no polyps, but, I don't see any loss of flesh.

Prognosis?

BTW, I tried another coral, no dip, looks great with polyps out.

Probably just shipping stress.

It will probably take a few days for the polyps to appear and 3 weeks to a month to color up.

Agreed it is shipping stress. Possibly made worse with Revive Dip. It is only one batch of corals (shipped togeter), with others doing well in the tank.

My parameters are pH 8.2-8.4, dKH 9, Ca 430, Nit 5 ppm to undetectable, Phos undetectable, Mg 1380. My tank is about 18 mo. old stocked with stuff I have had for five years.

I am asking, based on the reef central body of experience, when you all have acquired new acropora corals shipped by Fed Ex, they show up with fair color but slowly brown out, and you see no polyps as the weeks tick by... do they usually croak? Or, have you routinely seen them bounce back, extend polyps, grow, and maybe even color up again later.

Overall, I am pretty pesimistic about these three corals. As soon as I see flesh loss or algae on them... they will probably get dried and processed for the calcium reactor.

I thank you for any wisdom you can impart upon my judgement based on your own experience.

Even though you dipped that new acro before. I would dip it again, just to be safe. You never know it could be flatworms causing the problems..

I would not treat based on speculation. Leave them alone. You may want to try varying flow and place them at the bottom to acclimate slowly to your light. JMO

Bah!

Seeing bleaching from bottom up. I will pull them out and scrape for eggs and look for AEFW.... to rule it out... but I think they were toast when they showed up.

I have had zero luck with wild internet acros.

Will try tank raised frags next time... assuming my remaining acro stays healthy.

I have one that I did not dip, put in my sump with slower light accumulation, and it seems to be o.k. So, maybe the dip was bad for the corals or maybe I did not acclimate them propery light wise.

FT,
I dip all of my SPS with Revive. When I order my maricultured sps from Live Aquaria. I like to first drip acclimate them for 1.5 to 2 hours. After that, is when I use Revive. Let them bath in the dip for 15 minutes. Agitating the water, + using a turkey baster, then put them in my display tank..
