New Addition

Here is the latest addition to my tank. He is a Blue Jaw Trigger purchased from Planet Reef. He moved right in. I have seen no aggression and he readily ate minutes after being introduced. He is still a little shy but not as much as I thought he would be.

Here is a pic of my clowns as well. They were purchased over a year apart but seem to have paired up nicely.

The blue jaw is sweet. I had wanted one of those really bad when I first set up my big tank, but have since decided my tank was too small for one. Maybe if I upgrade some day.

You were thinking a 120 was too small? You have me worried now. I only have a 75 and read that should be plenty. What surprised me is he spends more time swimming in and out of the rock work then he does swimming out in the open.

I guess I will need to keep an eye on him.

I think I'm probably a bit more conservative on my fish choices than others may be. I have a foxface that's around 7 inches long and he's by far the largest fish in the tank. Most of my fish are smaller. I have the foxface, then a purple tang, then it goes on down through an ocellaris clown, a few chromis, cherub angel, leopard wrasse, scooter blenny, and clown goby. I've considered adding one more larger fish, but can't make up my mind what I want, so I just don't get anything. I'm more into my corals than fish anyway.

I am with you when it comes to the corals. I kind of got tired of people asking why I had a fish tank with no fish. I do have other fish but they are just little gobies and the clowns. That is when I started researching larger fish. I narrowed it down to a couple of reef safe angles and the blue Jaw trigger. After much debate the trigger won out.

I was at petco in Edwardsville and there was a blue jaw in a tank with several clowns, it was torturing them! I asked them to put it in a different tank. It killed one and almost a second while I stood there. Hopefully you do not have this issue.

Wow, that is not very encouraging. I was actually worried about the clown fish harassing the Trigger. They have already nipped his tail once for getting to close to their anemone. He swam off and stayed away at that point.

I am sure his true colors will show in a few weeks when he gets settled in.
