I started a reef tank all perimeters are good. i have a green brain coral, 3 candy cane and a few others. my tank almost crashed and had to do some maintenance for a quick fix. the brain coral was a nice green yesterday now it is turning a redish brown. also there are 2 yellow tangs, 1 clown, 1 lawnmower blenny, turbo snail, 2 hermit crabs. 30g tank with good skimmer and filter. temp is at 77.5 steady.

Ummm the tang police will get you for keeping 2 Tangs in a 30 gal. Tangs need very very large tanks to keep them happy.

The coral looks dead and if I were right that reddish tint is some sort of algae growing. I had that on my galaxea frag before

Are you sure your parameters are fine? The coral looks dead and the frag next to it looks like its dying

Listing your parameters would greatly help. What filter system are you running? Lights? Also, like HammerLover mentioned, 2 tangs in a 30 gallon is really something that should not be done. A single tang needs a bigger tank but 2 tangs definitely need a way bigger establishment. But anyways list your parameters and we'll try to help out.

It could be the coral isn't fully open yet. Since its just there yesterday I wouldn't worry much. If it isn't open for 3 days then something is wrong.

Usually after an hour my corals were almost open, specially lps.

PH 7.6 give or take a point, ammonia 0 ppm, nitrate 0 ppm- 0.25, nitrate 0 ppm-5.0 ppm. lights fluval sea 25000k marine and fluval sky 20000k. filter aqueon 75g, and a 120g skimmer, 2 powerheads

If you want help, we're going to need more information.
What does "my tank almost crashed and I had to do some maintenance" mean?
When giving parameters, we need actual numbers.
How old is you tank?

There are lots of people here with years and years of experience who are great help and advice, but no one can hep without pertinent information.

+1
A tank crashing can have an underlying issue or some parameters are getting way too off
My tank as you can see in my signature crashed because of a power head failure.

Also how old is the tank? And you haven't added your mag, phos, ca and salinity.

posted all info in the thread

2 month old tank and your adding all that crap? No wonder it almost crashed.

I would suggest rehoming the tangs(they really, really need a bigger tank), and have a read through the setting up stickies at the top of this forum.
