Hey all, I've just got this pair from my LFS

It moved around the tank quite a bit after this picture, attempt to semi bury the foot in sand. Is this the best way? Thanks for any help I don't want to overstress them. Also I didn't ask what type of anemone this was, it has some orange color on the foot.

Thanks
Jon

If it attaches to rock/glass, it is a BTA (Bubble Tip Anemone). However...if it stays in the sand and buries it's foot, it is an LTA (Long Tentacle Anemone). Oh...and if it attaches to the glass or a rock, DO NOT PULL IT OFF. You will destroy it's foot, resulting most likely in death. By the way, what are your lighting specs?

Working on getting way more light, a friend has some metal halides he built he is going to let me use, right now there are 5 fixtures on the tank providing light as far as wattage I'm embarrassed to say I don't know.

It sure looks like an LTA (Macrodactyla doreensis ), and a bleached one at that.

Would be nice if you knew the wattage, or at least the type of bulbs. When you do upgrade to MH, make sure to acclimate it to the new lights, it will be a shock.

For now, let it settle in, and then attempt to feed it, but small pieces. If given the proper care, it should color back up. How much flow do you have in your tank? LTAs are fond of high flow.

And,

[welcome]

Thanks for the info, I think I have pretty good flow, and the anemone is eating. I have two power heads and the sump and pump are 1200 gph. The bulbs are a variety as well. One 4ft compact flourcent with one atnic bulb the rest are regular florecents in the 18" 10000k I can't remember the wattage (I'm at work the wife is fish sitting) .
