I'd be using nori on a clip for that YT too. He's skinny.

I have a nori clip for her, she eats constantly-- mysis shrimp, formula one, sweetwater zooplankton, and she always has seaweed on the clip. I have never seen a fish eat so much and still be skinny but that's how she looked when I bought her a month or so ago...

do fish ever get worms where they eat constantly and still don't gain weight?

Absolutely. PM Angel*Fish. He/She has experience with this.

I have 3 of these, they eat like hogs all 3 of them. The LFS started them with live mosquito larvae i think and then weened them into taking frozen artemia.

I now feed them frozen artemia and cyklopeeze and a couple of times a wek i put in some phytoplankton (they like that). they get fed 2-3 times a day and all are reasonably fat and healthy.

Beatiful fishes.

The person that I know of that has kept these successfully is in Germany I think - But I really need to double check on that. I know of a person in Australia who claims success and figures our problems here in the states are due to shipping stress.

I had one that ate anything and lots of it- then one day all of a sudden it went crazy swimming backflips and died

One thing that may have had a significant detrimental affect on mine was tank temp. Though these fish live in deep water they also come up into the shallows to feed so I thought my warm tank would be ok--maybe not (82-83 & 84 F)

How long have you had yours, BTW & what's your tank temperature? In Sweden are they considered extremely difficult fish?

my temp varies between 78-80. I try to keep it at 78 as much as possible. One anthias is thriving on sweetwater zooplankton but the other will only eat baby brine shrimp and looks skinny. I don't know what to do but i am worried, should I bring her back to the fish store or just keep hatching brine and hope she copies the other's feeding habits?

try mixing brine and zooplankton in a small tupperware with tank water, and dump it all in the tank at the same time..

can i get an autographed poster or something with a personalized message that i can hang in my room? hehehe

the anthias are doing great, eating baby brine, cyclopeeze and one of the two eats zooplankton. they are out much more often, more social and less skitish... :D

No, but what I do is spread it on foil and then freeze it after opening - move it to a plastic bag & then break off chunks as needed.

update. i lost the one that wouldn't eat from the beginning ages ago but the other one eats everything in site and is as healthy as ever... has been scarfing down everything i throw in the tank for 7 months now. not sure why one is a success and one is not. they were offered the same foods and one ate and one didn't. i bought everything under the sun. i will post a picture of my survivor soon, i don't have a recent one now... but he looks great!

I had the same experience - some are stronger than others - what the exact explanation is, I don't know. Congrats on your 7 month success with the other one, though :)

my anthias and my tang are both alive and well and fat as ever! i think my tang was just skinny from the fish store, she has steadily been putting on weight and getting bigger! and the anthias eats everything i drop in the tank. i want to get some tank mates for her to school with, but will only buy anthias that will eat in the store and sadly, have not seen that yet. they should not pull these fish from the ocean with the success rate they have with them. i now know, i got very lucky with my survivor, she is strong and fat and a dominant member of the tank. also, upon reviewing a detailed book on anthias at the LFS, she is a yellow striped anthias, not a purple queen.

I have heard the tukas called purple anthias as a common name.
You have a nice looking female tuka there!
I bought 2 males and 4 females exactly 2 months ago. The male is out everyday eating, the females hide in a cave but look like they may be eating, hard to say.
I feed them Reef Nutrition Arcti-pods, thats about the only thing the male really goes after. He'll eat some of the smaller hikari Mysis but wont touch the P.E. Mysis.
Its amazing that some have kept them alive for 7-8 months and then had them die...........I hope someday we'll be able to keep schools of them alive for years!
