I'm trying to update my firmware have everything done

In safe mode
Disabled firewalls and virus
Hard wired to comp and apex through rout

Now at least the apex went out or reboot mode but on the flash utility it is still not sending firmware just keeps attempting to connect

But now it says it has the latest firmware already so maybe I dont need it to send the firmware? Cause the reason I'm doing this was just to get it out of reboot mode(flashing orange light on eb8 only)

You will need to contact Neptune HELP LINE start there. This will take some time a week or two. They will have to take control of your computer to fix your problems. I had to send my apex back to them 2 times. I have an I .T guy that helps me with mine.

Go to your Apex Display and see which version of firmware it has. Obviously, if it's the latest, then there's no need to update it again.

Once you do that, then again, on the display, check the IP address. It can change during a reboot/firmware update, unless you gave it a static IP address. (This cause cause the "unable to connect" problem).

Once you know the IP address, then update the webpages.

Once that's done, see if the issue has been solved.

This below, was on the Apex forums:

Follow this procedure:

Power your Apex off
Restart your computer in Windows safe mode with networking
Turn off any virus or firewall software
Open flash utility
In the Network address put something similar to your default gateway (router) IP address
For example, if you default gateway is 192.168.1.1 then make the network address 192.168.1.88
Click update firmware
After failed attempt 1 plug your Apex in
Apex and computer should make a handshake at this time, if not try to power cycle your base unit again
Update the web pages after the firmware update.

If it is not possible to hardwire computer and Apex to router, it is possible to do a firmware update with a direct Ethernet connection to the controller through a laptop. To do this:

1. Disable the wireless interface on the PC/Laptop by using Control Panel – Network Connections. Find your wireless interface, right click and select Disable.
2. Now, you have to select an address for the PC (normally you would have DHCP enabled and your router would do this for you). You have to match the first 3 pieces (octets) of the Apex‟s address and have something different for the fourth. For example, if the Apex is 192.168.1.50, you could use 192.168.1.10. Next, we have to put this new address into the PC and turn off some other controls.
3. On your PC, go into Control Panel - Network Connections. You may have multiple network interfaces displayed. Identify the one that is your Local Area Connection or Ethernet Adapter.
4. Right-click on the icon for the Local Area Connection interface, and select Properties.
5. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), then click Properties
6. On the General tab, Obtain an IP address automatically will be selected. We need to change that so we can define one our self. Click the button Use the following IP address.
7. Complete the three fields using the IP address you selected above. The Subnet Mask should be 255.255.255.0. Make sure Default Gateway is blank because we‟re not using a router anymore (that‟s usually your Gateway).
8. Leave all the other options alone.
9. Click OK as needed to get out of the network configuration windows.
10. Now you‟re ready to load the firmware. Follow the instructions under „Execution‟ earlier in this chapter.

Windows 7 and Vista
1. From the Control Panel – Network and Sharing Center, select your wireless interface if you have one, right click and disable it.
2. Follow steps 2, 3 & 4 above.
3. Again, from the Control Panel – Network and Sharing Center select your Local Area Connection.
4. Select Properties, then find and select Internet Protocol Version 4, then click Properties.

Mine stuck in boot loader and had the flashing orange if I remember correctly. I got mine working again and updated. I am a doer but not a good teacher . If I had it in front of me and its the same problem I had I could get it. Of course I hooked my laptop directly to my Apex to get it done. You know, what they say not to do. Not sure why but that is always how I have done it.

I got it on again last night but the base unit kept shutting itself off and back on

now I have a green flashing on eb8 and nothing to the base unit

waiting for neptunes to write me back .....

Green Flashing is a communication error.

Turn the Apex off, disconnect your modules from the base unit (unplug the cables so just the display is connected), and reboot. See if the unit starts as normal. If so, then re-connect the EB8 and see if the problem occurs again.

If so, power down again, and plug the EB8 into a different usb port, reboot. If the problem still occurs, you may need a new Aquabus cable.

If you can get the Apex to work without the EB8 plugged in, check to see how many modules you have in the "Apex Module Setup" list. You should only see the amount that you have. If there are multiples, delete them and try the above again.

what exactly do you mean by reboot? im very new to apex sorry

do you mean just restart it? or is it something I do through the apex display? or by flashing it via hard wire Ethernet hook up

Yea OK got ya

Apex emailed back and said it may me the display unit shorting out the system so to unplug and see if it still shuts down on its own ...

As of now both eb8 and base unit are green and working we will see if it lasts

no that's the thing I don't have it hooked up like that yet so I need my display im just trying it to see if it works... so far it hasn't turned off yet that I know off.

this was just a test from neptunes so we shall see what they say next...

I plugged in the display for maybe 5 mins earlier to do something and nothing bad happened so who knows lol but not im scared to use anything important on it in fear its all going to just shut off on me one day

well it was working but this morning it was right back to being off with just the eb8 on with a flashing green status light so it deff wasn't the display being the issue

Base unit off all day with green status blinking on eb8 and then randomly the base unit kicks on and all is working fine until the next time it decides to shut off
