Honestly 8 days.. lol I started off with 25lbs live sand and 15 lbs of live rock.. and then add 3 more lbs LR about 4 days ago.. Other then that im going to try and run it all stock.. Had a very small Ammonia and Nitrite after the 3rd day that was gone.. As I added fish and corals it would rise a bit then drop.. Today im at
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0
pH 8.0
We will see in time what happens.. Wish me luck...
You tell me? Im VERY impressed with how well this tank is doing... When I added the Tomato Clown and Sand Sifting Goby Ammonia and Nitrite when up slightly and today back to zero,,
Wow looking good but typically its always best to take it slow. I did the same thing as you with an old tank and always fought with the red slime algae and brown diatoms. Everything is looking good and healthy though!!
As you can see in the pics im starting to Brown Diatoms.. Not good.. Just going to let it go for now and see what happens.. What I cant understand is why my Xenia opens way better with out my Koralia 420 turned on.. I thought they like water flow?
The water flow might just not be hitting it at the angle it likes or something silly like that. My advice would be to just keep moving the coral to different spots until you find one it likes.
I am enjoying your posts on your build. I am at day 11 on mine. So it is nice to see someone on their first build as well. I am having the same problem with the Diatom as well. I am trying to see if it will go away as the tank balances. it is not much at the moment.
