New Blackcap Basslet

I just drip-acclimated my new black cap over two hours and added him to my quarantine tank. This is only the second fish I've acclimated as I'm new to the hobby.

Now, he is just sitting on the bottom of the 10gal QT in the corner. Is this normal?

He was Fed Ex'd to me overnight from Florida and now I just acclimated him so I understand if he needs a little "downtime". I'm sure this has all been quite stressful for him.

What do you think? Is he alright?

That is hard to say if it is ok or not they generally need some place to hide to feel secure , a piece of pvc pipe will work. A better measure of acclimation than time is testing salinity and temp until they match that way you know it is good

I just got a new fish and he was fine for the first hour, now all he does is hide. I would assume yours is trying to hide...give it something to hide in?

Yeah, I have a piece of mined rock in there with a nice tunnel. It has been in the tank through the cycling process. Here we are, five hours later and he still doesn't look any different. I'm hoping for the best.

Black caps like to hide in caves. So you can lower his stress by giving him somewhere to hide. you can use a piece of pvc pipe .
