New blue Knucle hermit almost dead

he hasn't moved very much at all in the 4 days I've had him, i figured he was dying since saturday, well today i get home and see my fire shrimp munchin on one of his legs and 3 other legs by the shell and his big claw, his body was hanging half way out the shell..i figured for sure he was dead so i reached in to grab him and he sucked back into his shell and i can clearly see he's alive....prolly bot for much longer

Just ran some water tests
ammonia 0
nitrites were 0-.005 hard to tell
nitrates 10-15

would a fire shrimp pick on a sick or weak blue knuckle crab?

im finally starting to get some green algae on some of my rocks...well see how bad it gets this week i may have to go get some more CUC. whats good for algae on rocks?

Could be he molted and the shrimp is eating his discarded shell?

i guess that could be a possibility...them legs he's munchin on look awfully blue though...does the molt keep the bright colors?

i just disected the legs i pulled out...definitely not a molt, theres meat in em

You don't want blue hermit crabs in your tank anyway. Eventually they will go after something you paid a lot more than the three dollars the crab costs.

My scarlet hermit molts are always bright red. I'd suggest getting a couple of those, only hermits that are murderous fiends to your snails.
