New build using my old wavebox

lanshark

It's Landshark, aka SNL
Hi Roger,

I have few questions regarding my wavebox setup;

What is supposed to happen when plugging in driver 7240.27 without a 6091 connected?

Is 7092 controller the current replacement of 6091?

Next question would be helpful, but understand if you don't want to provide answer. Have two (3 wire)cables connecting to 6091 solder points. For primary cable I only have green attached and have red and blue that I need to resolder and don't know position? Same for the second cable not using anyways?

I will most likely replace 6091 with 7092, but would like to know all else is working upstream, driver, pump, etc.... My thinking is if driver and controller failing, may sell pump.

Thanks!

With no controller a pump should run continuously at one speed.

The 7092 is the replacement for the 6091.

Only 3 wires should be soldered to the board. The color codes have changed so many times that the only way to figure this out is to trace the pinouts with an ohm meter. For example the current wiring is purple orange and white.

Without a good driver the pump has no value, these spare parts are no longer available.

Thanks for the info. Here is what is happening when I plug in 7240.27 without controller and pump attached;

Aluminum case where the L-shaped mount bracket is gets too hot to the touch and pump is not turning but when I manually touch the propeller, there is some kind of charge to the magnet as I fell slight vibration/hum? I do not believe pump is bad, how do I know if driver is good or bad, etc. what is charge to have Tunze check ? If pump is good, how can it be used outside the driver?

If the driver gets hot, it is bad, the pump will not work without a good driver but these have not been available new since 2010, you may be able to find a good used one.

Well, I must say feeling a bit unsatisfied with your answers so far. I spend near $600.00 dollars and used a year. Have a box, a pump looking like new and TUNZE conveniently obsoletes a piece of the puzzle that apparently makes the pump worthless, thereby box worthless. Typical German paranoia regarding open specs for the products. You didn't provide wiring positions for three wires to 6091. Let's try the pump, 6261 has five wires and I want to know which I can alligator clip to and what dc power voltage I can supply To see if pump works? Assume hockey puck transformer is working, what is output specs I should measure with no load? I saw the $375.00 replacement pump on the Tunze site, no thanks! I'll go Ecotech before that. Seems like a lot of people looking for 7240.27 driver, hence TUNZE let a lot of people down. Sounds like a fast way to lose Market share to me.

Does the 6208.200 pump fit in the 6215 original wavebox?

We quit making this pump in July 2007 so it is quite old and it is not possible to run every old part we used to make and continue to move forward. The only option is to upgrade to the current pump, 6215.200. If you send in your controller, I am happy to try to trouble shoot it and trace the pin outs but this is a $25 repair if a new cables are needed and for $74 the 7092 is a vast improvement and well worth simply replacing it. You are free to do what you like but you do own a product we stopped making over 6 years ago and we do offer current equivalents to upgrade it. People tend to think the grass is greener somewhere else and it generally isn't, keep in mind what you own was made before the Ecotechs were even introduced to the market and they have also had design changes and obsolete models.
