New Camera

I'm in the market for a new camera and ive been looking on dpreview but still not sure on what i should get. I've been looking at the Samsung NV8 I like the colour, the feel but not sure what Macro shots etc. are like. What does everybody else use and what should i get? I dont want a DSLR or an expensive professional camera.
