New Christmas wrasse

Here is a picture of my Christmas wrasse in QT. Ordered from LA and seems to have shipped fine so far. Eating a little day 1. I droppped in some Formula 1 pellets and he picked at them and ate frozen formula 1. He has a sandbox he shares with a canary wrasse who is also eating a little. He is out the whole time the lights are on and goes to bed at night. Now I just need to coax the Fine Spot Fairy Wrasse out of the little piece of plastic connector it is using as a cave. Hopefully mysis tonight will lure him out. I hope the pictures work.

Good looking fish. I love mine, they are very hardy. Mine jumped into the overflow and it took a couple of day until I found him. When i got him out he was in real bad shape. I thought he was a gonner. Put him in a QT with a bunch of sand, 2 days under the sand, then he popped out and has been fine ever since.

She seems to be doing great. Always out and about and chowing on mysis tonight. researching Christmas wrasses it sounds like they do not ship well but once acclimated they are very hardy. She likes to watch whoever is watching her.

Back in the late '80s when I had a 30 gallon fish-only saltwater tank - and had no idea what I was doing - I had a Christmas wrasse. No sandbed at all, way too small a tank, barely any filtration, who knows how high my nitrates were ... and he still lived for several years on flake and occasional frozen brine. Very tough fish.

Mr Wilson- Thanks for the sharing. I was a little nervous as many places claim they do not ship well and are not hardy. Others say they are rock solid. She is bound to be a favorite. How big did yours get?
Thanks,
Pat

As I recall, mine had grown to about 6 inches by the time it expired. I think that as with many fish, if one can get it past the shipping/acclimating period, and then get it to accepting prepared foods, it is relatively hardy. Mine certainly was exceedingly hardy.
