New Clam Feedback, Location and ID

Hey I just purchased this clam 2 weeks ago at an LFS outside of Philadelphia. It was just labled clams. I am fairly certain that it is a T. Crocia and others have confirmed this. i just wanted to make sure. I wanted to check on the size to see if it was big enough to get all its food from light or if it needed frequent feeding. Also I was wondering on tank placement. It seems happeir here than on the sand, as it has finally set out its fillaments and connected to the rock, also the dark spots on the mantle are gone. Thanks for the feedback.

The purple firefish is just above the clown in this picture as a size reference.

Looks like a crocea to me- if you have halides, and all else in your tank is ok, it should do well without additional feeding. One question- have you noticed the mantle extending any further than it is currently, or has it taken awhile to reach the extension it now has? It doesn't look as open as it might be, but a number of factors could explain that- good luck.

it is under 250W metal Halides and a 65W Actinic light. It has opened more, but lately my yellow clown goby has taken to perching itself on the clam. I also turned off the flow for these pictures and it closed a bit my hands were above it. It is a nervous clam. It has gotten better though. I used to have it in the sand, and the mantle was getting dark spots on it. Those spots are gone and it seems much happier.

It sounds as if it's doing quite well then- my experience with croceas is the same- they're very sensitive to light fluctuations, a healthy sign- congrats.
