Got this clam today. Is it gaping? If so does this mean its a goner or is there anything i can do??
Clam responds well to movement and shadows.

kastanzaman,

Hopefully you did a nice slow acclimation for your new clam, but it isn't at all unusual for a clam to show some stress at being transferred to a new tank. Yes, that is gaping, though not as bad as I've seen it in some cases. If it is responding well to movement and shadows, just give it some time to adjust and it may be fine. I'd suggest putting a small flat rock or clam shell under the sand for it to attach to if it wants and messing with it as little as possible for a while.

To be safe, double check your water parameters are all within good reef tank tolerances, and if your lighting is significantly stronger than the tank it came from, a layer or two of screen over that section of the tank for a little while would help it get used to its new brightness.

The colors are lovely! Best of luck.

SHould have mentioned my params.
SG 1.026
pH8.0
alk9.2
ca 425
Mg1420
NH4 0
NO3 0.5
temp 78-80

I drip acclimated for about 45 min to an hour. Should i have done more?

And i did place a flat piece of rubble underneath it for it to attach to. I just didn't want to place it in the rockwork where it can never be moved.
Thanks for the help.

Looks about the same, although it did turn to face the light that leaks into the tank at night from my fuge that sits to the side of the tank.
Thought that maybe i acclimated to quickly but the maxima, that i also picked up and acclimated together with the crocea, looks great.
