New Clam Owner...Questions about Crocea Calms

I bought a Dersa Clam two months ago that has grow close to 1/2 inch already so I figured I must be doing something right and made the step to buy a Crocea Clam

I picked up two Crocea's this past weekend and they are about 4". What beautiful Pieces!!!! I am new to owning clams and have ready some of the posts that people have put on here, so now I had some questions. When I bought the clams they were in a sand bed so I put them back into my sand bed. Are these clams going to rather be attached to a rock piece up high or should I continue to just leave them in the sand? Also with this many clams (3 Total) Should I be dosing my tank on a regular basis with Alk/Cal? What are the best numbers to keep my tank at Cal/ALK?

Tank specs 100g _ 2-250w MH 14k's _ 24"deep

I will post pics later tonight when I get home......

Thanks

I was just reading in another thread that if your clam has the inlet gaping open where you can see the gills means that the clam may not be a happy clam........The two Crocea's that I just bought have their inlets wide open......Any input?

And Again I should have pics up within a few hours I hope.....by end of day for sure.

Croceas tend to hold there in-current syphons open more then other clams. most of the time its nothing to worry about, also being that they are still acclimating to the tank i wouldn't worry right now.

They seem to be very responsive to the fish swimming close to them as well as when I clean the tank so I suppose I will just sit tight. So are they clams that like rock work or is it ok to leave them in the sand bed?

Croceas in the wild will be found up on the reef, but IMO if your lighting is strong enough to keep them happy, leave them where they are.
