What are the little tube things growing out of it's shell? I have one that has that same looking thing. Looks like a feather duster or something...

Your tank looks nice. I would say that those tubes growing out are probably vermatid snails. They will send a string out to filter from the water. I personally don't like them, but they are harmless.

Brock Fluharty - "aztbs" is right, they are vermatid snails. I think it's empty though because i haven't seen anything stick or come out of it since i got the clam....

are you sure you didn't paint your tank purple?? that is some beautiful coraline. the whole tank looks really good.

Peabody - I'm currently using a 250 watt MHL 20,000K bulb, but i'm switching to a 14,000K bulb this week. It's time to change my bulb and i want to get mor growth out of my corals, that's why i'm switching....

What is the size of the clam? It appears to be on the tiny side, and those are a little more difficult to keep. Not trying to bash you, only pointing out a possible PITA.

Your waterbox looks great. The coraline is amazing and overall very "clean" looking.

It is a small clam. It's about 3 inches in length. I did my research on them before i did my purchase. I know that you have to make sure they get enough light and food while they are small, but as they get older they can pretty much fend for themself. He looks fine in my tank and healthy. I feed my tank cyclopeeze and phytoplankton ever other day. I dont' dirrect feed him but he's in a good flow spot in the tank....
