I have a clam next to my blue carpet & i am wondering if the carpet will sting it when it spreds out . I thought i read where corals dont bother them but im not sure abought the carpet.

Thanks Bump

To be on the safe side I would keep them seperated some...anemonies can pack a pretty strong sting...even though the clam is no real threat to the carpet , in nature they compete for realestate .....so I dont know for sure, but if It were I , then I would find some way to not allowing them to touch....

keep it on opposite sides of the tank if possible. I had a purple maxima in my rocks and the carpet was under it on the sand bed. My abalone knocked the clam out of the rocks and the carpet ate it. It showed up a couple days later next to the carpet just an empty shell.

Man thats sad to here. I have moved it & for now its on the sand away from the b.carpet. Is your carpet blue as well ?

i have a crosea next to a large sticho. haddoni . they touch all the time and the clam doesnt even react to it any longer. it accepts the anemone withjout a flinch . i ended up moving the clam because i was afraid the anemone shaded the clams mantle too much.

Yes its blue. But no longer with us, it meet a power head while I was away on vacation.

How long did you have it before the power head got it ? I have heard they only live a year or so in the tank. So far mine is doing great and is past the year mark i think, i cant remember. It has only moved on me once when i moved a rock. It went right into my cpr overflow & my tank started to overflow but we where home so we shut the tank down all but the power heads. It took 4 or 5 days to get it out/come out. I put it back in it's spot after i put the rock back & it didnt move untill i mooved it into my new 240g tank a few weeks ago. I put it in a circle of rocks and it dug in and has stayed there so far. Did yours move around alot ? It looks like it was big in the pic. & is that another won in the same pic. to the left of it.

I had it 3 of them for over a year. I had a blue, pink and yellow one. The pink moved alot, yellow and blue moved just a few times in over a year. Needed more space for my gigas so traded the pink and yellow one. The saddle carpets last along time the other type of carpet (forget the name) dosen't last as long from what I've heard.

Saddle carpet ? How do i tell what mine is ? I like both the yellow & the pink But i think i like that pink one better. Do you know if a m.clown will host the b.carpet ? I took down a 110g and a 125g tank & put up the 240g in there place. In the 110 was a m.clown & a t.clown . In the 125 i had a pair of clarki clowns that hosted the carpet, but when i put the carpet in the big tank i put the m.clown & a t.clown in the 240g & i put the pair in the 75g tank with the 2 RBTA. The maroon clown & the tomato wont host the carpet or cant. If they can is there a way i can get them in there?

Thereââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s two types the Gigantea and Haddoni. The Haddoni is probably what you have. They are hardier. I think the difference is that the tentacles are pointier on the Gigantea. The only clown that I know will go in there is the saddle clown, but the one I have is very aggressive, any time my hand would get close to the carpet it would bite me. I also watched it grab a percula by the fin and drag it down and feed it to the carpet.

I had a breading pair of clarki clowns that hosted it and i havent had it try to eat me so i must have a nice one & the tentacles are short and flat on top or round. If you pm me your email address i will send you a picture of him.

My carpet and maxima sit next to each other and are constantly touching. This is an old photo, but the 2 are still together today. I am almost certain that this particular maxima is immune to the sting.

Thanks for taking a look. I sure do like it & i would hate to loose it .I havent seen one since i got this one.So do you know if the maroon clown can host this carpet.

The blue ones are my favorite, my tank is mainly sps but I will replace the blue one that I lost with another one. I don't think they can host with a carpet, my maroon clown tried to when I first added them but never took to it.
