New Clam

I picked up my first clam. It was blue-er when I bought it but in my tank its greenish blue from the side and Flourescent green when viewed from above.

What kind is it? Maxima? Any distinctive features I should look for.

Its most definitely a T. crocea. A maxima wouldn't extend its mantle as fully as that. It probably appears green from above because of your lighting, I'm guessing. Do you have 10K bulbs? Also, clams can look completely different when viewed from above, especially croceas.

I agree that it is a Crocea. Most clams will look different from the side then they do from top down, will happen no matter what lights you are using.

That's an unreal color change. From one spectrum to another. Defiantly cool. Photo-enhanced or not.
