New clam!

Just got this Maxima a few days ago, Im guessing a teardrop? He is attached to a rock and is in my sand for the time being. The LFS had him under pc's for 3 months so I figured he needed some acclimating to MH's. I will start moving him up the rockwork soon. He is about 6 inches.

This is my 2nd clam, my first being a Derasa that Ive had for 6 months. It has grown about 1 1/2" since Ive had it and looks great so I figured I was ready for one of the more difficult clams.

Sorry for the bad picture but after resizing it, it lost all its beauty.

Go slow on the acclimation process. Beautiful markings.

Great looking clam! With your 250s you can keep it on the sand bed, no need to move it up in the rockwork unless you just want it there....

Thanks for the compliments. So I can keep him on the sand? I have 2 x 250 MH's but they are SE not DE. I didnt really want to put him on the rocks but figured I would need to because the Maximas love light and I only had SE bulbs.

I keep my Maxima on the bottom of my 180 under a 400w ab13k , very nice coler and growth. I think yours will be just fine on the sand. FYI I have had mine for 2 years. Very nice clam BTW.

yep 250's are enough to keep any clam on the sand bed with respect to the height of the tank....a 30inch tank would be pushing that IMO....
