New Clownfish in my new talk! Not eating at all

Hello all,

I'm not new here but I was out for a period because I didn't have any tank. Now I got the Innovative Nuvo 20 gallons which is amazing!

The tank is with real ocean water (petco ), live sand and life rocks. I introduced the bubble anemone and the clownfish two days ago. The clown did symbiosis with the anemone and so far everything is good but...he is not eating at all. Even he looks like is not interested in food. I tried with pellets and also mysis and nothing. I also tried with garlic drops...and nothing.

He spend the whole day in a corner of the tank and during the night he goes to the anemone, never during the day. Is that also normal?

Thanks a lot for your help and I would like to share with you a picture of the tank and the "couple"

omg this is exactly what im going through right now also. I hope someone knows what to do! I have lost 2 of my 3 from direct starvation. Everything in my tank is perfect, its really making me mad.

Actually, I had a similar issue with my new tank, and the root cause was a faulty Ph meter. I took my tank water to the LFS and my Ph was 7.7. Yikes. I bought a Salifert kit there, brought it home, and it agreed, my Ph meter was off almost 0.6 points. My API kit was not even in the same ballpark. Enough of a difference to shock the fish even after drip acclimating. I adjusted the Ph using the Alk part of Randy's Two Part, and within a couple of hours everything was good. Still not eating much, but active and attacking its reflection.

I wouldn't trust the API kit for anything anymore. And I just bought a years worth of calibration solutions from BRS to keep my meter calibrated.

How are you measuring Ph?

Some say if you have a wild caught fish it will do things like this. I would ask before you buy a fish. My LFS doesnt sell wild caught clowns for this reason. (along with a few other reasons). Has the anemone been in that spot the entire time or has it moved? as far as the anemone hosting the clown during the day. the clown might not like that spot he is in but at night retreats to it for protection. I have a clown that once played in the anemone during the day and at night went to a corner of the tank. i moved the anemone over to that corner and they are now never apart.
My RBTA found his home inside a conch shell, i can move him wherever i want he refuses to come out of the shell and find his own happy place. so i just take advantage of that. he has been in the shell for 8 months

I purchased a pair five days ago, the largest one is just starting to eat, the smaller one wants nothing to do with food. I've read it's not unusual for a clown not to eat for a few days when first introduced. Give it time, hopefully it will start to eat soon
