New Clowns

Well onyx have the body covered with black but by your picture it looks like somewhere close to the clownfish tail have a orange spot so that kinda looks like true perc??? May i ask where you got the clowns?

I purchased them from a very nice person here on RC. He said they were onyx. He gets them from a LFS on the cost and puts them together for pairs. These are great and extremly healthy.

Well they are pretty close, close enough with the variable nature of the black on A. percula.

The defination most use for the onyx variant of A. percula... That all three bars are connected with black. So the female in the picture doesn't quite cut it with the gap in the black between the tail and mid bar.

But it may well fill in over time.

I had a male onyx that lost his mate in QT and was paired with one of my juveniles and he soon grew into she and most of the black between the tail and mid bars faded. Now that she is nearing her full size and is not growing like a weed, the black is starting to fill in again.

Thank you MY FISH.

And thank you JHARDMAN. These are very young fish. She is about 1 1/4" and he is about 1". She is the only one with a gap. On one side it is almost filled in.

Thank you
Lori

i agree with jhartmans thoughts.

you prob have a very good chance they will both dev. into full onyx. the one in the back is onyx already. either way they are nice.

Yea. I cant wait till I can raise some fry. I have my grow out racks in progress. You would think that One of my other pairs would give me some eggs. I think the GSM's have but they are behind the rocks and I cant get to them I am afraid if I move them into one of the breeding tanks they will quit.
