new colony covered in fan worms

I recently got a brand new out of the box wild acro colony that is covered in what looks like fan worms. I can't even count how many. They are inside the acros skeleton and pop in and out pretty rapidly. I did the dip of TMPCC but that didn't help. What are they and what do you do to get rid of them?
I can try and get a pic tonight if that helps.

Might be a type of barnacle. Many corals will grow over/around the barnacle and the worm will stay. If the fans move in and out rapidly, I'm guessing that's what it is. Also see them a lot on faviids.

hi there izzypop,

what colours are these tube worms? perhaps they are christmas tree worms, and they often do no harm whatsoever to the coral, and are commonly found on porite sp.

alternatively, they could just be ordinary tubeworms or colonial tubeworms which i shouldnt think will drastically affect your acro colony's health, seeing as the colony's done well in the wild with these worms.

cheers,
ian

You can only see the "fan" part of the worm. The fan is very small and the color is white. They don't look like christmas tree worms to me. I'll try and snap a good pic of it.
