it will be easier to move him later if you place a rock underneath his so he doesn't attach to the glass.

sound good thank, i have already put him on a rock. and i have room for one more clam on the rock. oh crap that means i need to get one more.lol. i will have to ask the wife,,,,,

In the wild. Tridacna crocea like the rock work but like a4twenty
said, you can place it on the sand but better to place a rock under it so it will attach.

i wanted to take him out to give him a good cleaning ,,he has already attached to the rock. i take him out a little later of course on the rock and give him a good scrub down.. thank you all

I would only take out them to clean them if you are checking for any pyramid snails that may be trying to eat their flesh. Too much movement can stress them out.

I would leave it be for a couple weeks just to let it settle in before you start scubbing it.. as long as there are no pyramid snails. Best of luck to you.

na the clam seems fine i just think that a couple them were checking him out due to the fact that he is new to the tank. this afternoon when the lights came on he opened up nice and full...seems to be doing good. he did how ever move a little bit of the rock to possition his foot.thank everyone i will try and get a pic of the new addition this afternoon.
