New Derasa

Questionââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s,

My new derase seems a little scared in my tank. Every time a fish swims by close, it reacts by retracting its mantle.

Also, is T5ââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s a good enough light for the clams?

My new clam seems to be moving ââ"šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ when I put it in the tank, I placed it horizontal from the front view of the tank. Now, it seems to have moved diagonally. Is this normal? How do put it back on the horizontal position?

My derasa is sitting on the sand bed ââ"šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ this is okay, right?

That is normal for them to react that way when something moves over them. :)

T-5 will be enough light for a Tridacna derasa as they don't require as much light as some of the other species.

Sometimes a clam will travel because he/she doesn't like it where it is, could be water movement or lighting. :)

Sand is fine for your clam.

Thanks Barry.

Are the mantles of the derasa shorter than a crocea? I've got a crocea about 10" below the T5's for about 3 months now and the mantles are fully extended.

I've noticed that the derasa have shorter mantles.
