New Diver needs equipment suggestions

I am new in to diving and I have been doing loads of research on equipment. I have it down to 2 set ups. I'd like comments and suggestions from some experienced divers out there....

The first set up is:

-Aeris Sport BCD w/weight integrated pockets.
-Aeris AT400 Regulator
-Aeris A1 Standard Octo
-Aeris XR2 Computer Console

The second set up is:

-Mares Vector Origin 1000 BCD
-Mares Rebel 2 Regulator
-Mares Rebel 2 Octo
-Mares Mission 3 Gauge Console
-Aeris XR1 Wrist Computer

Let me know what you think!!

I dive a little bit and my suggestion would be to go with something a little more high end....My choice of regs in order would be anything that Atomic Aquatics makes, best breathing reg out there, also probably the most expensive. 2nd choice because they are easy to get parts for and are good breathers, Apeks. 3rd would be Scubapro.

As far as BC's go, I would suggest a wing and a plate, your exposure protection will somewhat dictate what your wing size will be....

Whatever you decide to go with for a BC, the minimalist approach will serve you well. Stay away from fancy gadgets, numerous d-rings and wings with huge bladders.

Use a basic pressure gauge and a wrist computer such as the Nitek Duo or the exact equivalent made by Tusa (which will probably cheaper)

Mask,,,,one that seals properly and is comfortable.

Fins,,,the cheapest non split fins will serve you well for a long time. Dive Rite makes a nice blade fin, Scubapro jet fins, US Diver Blades, Tusa Imprex........

Keep it simple and you will happier in the long run.

Don't get the XR1 computer. Doesn't do nitrox. Make sure whatever computer you decide on will do nitrox, you'll be using it soon enough.

Hey 9supratt4... When you say you're new, how new is that, exactly? How many dives have you done so far? Where? What were the conditions? Where do you see your diving in a year? Two years? Five? Have you already begun to gravitate toward a certain kind of diving or dive environment?

gear

gear

I use some mares equipment and it seems good and i use cheap stuff as well.

I use the good gear in severe conditions and the more simple in cushy conditions.

I would always use steamer style wetsuits,1 -2 mil,1 -3 mil and a 5 mil semi dry for winter.

A high volume silicon mask and carry a small bottle of detergent with you for the more stuborn fogging masks.

The deeper you go and the more harsh conditions you go in the better your gear needs to be!!!

As one of the comments said what do you intend on doing.

Get a second hand cheap set up for a time and then get some good stuff as you advance in depth and harsh conditions and keep the cheap gear for spares.

Its a good sport and do some snorkel training in a pool or ocean ,its good for your lung capacity.
