New Eel with picsalso have a few questions

I just got a SF eel and i was wondering if he would eat any of my fish. The only ones I am woried about are my Croims and my Clarki Clown. Here is a pic of the little guy. HE is about 3'' long and is eating fine

Also how many times should I feed him. I have heard abot twice a week. Is that good or should i feed him more?

they eat crustaceans had one in my reef for a long time. may get a fish but it would be by dumb luck. their teeth are flat not pointed for catching fish. I fed mine 2-3 times a week. Make sure you feed more than freeze dried food. silversides was what I mostly fed mine.

I have some small chromis with my SFE. My SFE is about 8 " and he hasn't bothered any fish yet.

I've been feeding mine frozen krill and frozen squid.

I had my Snowflake for over 2 years, he never ate any fish and I fed him every other day which is about 3 times a week. Eventually he will eat you out of house and home so to speak, when they get in upward of 16 to 18" like mine was. I just got rid of him this past week and it was a sad thing, but I was having a hard time keeping my nitrates down with him eating 7-10 krill every other day and wanting more.

That is a great addition you have there and they are very hardy, just make sure you have lids on your tank, especially with him being so small. They are escape artists like all Eels and sometimes don't learn the first time they escape that they could die, that is if they live after there first venture out of the tank.

Oh... I have cleaner shrimp and emerald crabs in my tank that he never bothered, but he will eat pretty much any other kind of shrimp or crab, except hermit crabs.

Mine was very tame and I could hand feed him, which is not recommended, but they can be tought this. I have heard of other people having Snowflake Eels for 6 months without a problem and then just snap and they eat all there fish. So, just keep him well fed and he should do great for you.

I have a SF and wolf eel toghether. The sf is pretty much blind so I wouldn't worry about him eating your fish. I feed mine every other day about 3-4 silversides. The wolf eel on the other hand will stare you down and I think he hunted down evry one of my chromis down.

NICE! i love mine I feed him frozen shrimp (the same kind I eat). I started with the feeding stick and Now I can handfeed

I switched back to the feeding stick some time ago, someone said that you don't want them to associate your hand and fingers with feeding. This makes sense if you put your hand in the tank to move/place corals or just do some routine maintenance in the tank.

I had one for 10 years. He got 30". They are not likely to eat your fish, but there are exceptions. Among the morays, it is among your safest choices.

A GREAT fish, easy to keep and feed, very tame. At your SF's size, I'd feed him 5 days a week or so. He'll grow quickly. While I'm sure it is fun to hand-feed him, you will eventually not want to do it anymore. As someone said, they are as blind as Mr. Magoo, and I got bit a few times when he mistook my fingers for food. It hurt A LOT when he was over 2 ft. long, and I had a V-shaped bloody cut that took a long time to stop bleeding. I would compare it to squeezing your finger hard with a pair of steel pliers for 2 seconds. They get VERY strong jaws when they are older (they crushed shelled animals for a living, remember).
