New England Aquarium

We went to Maine over christmas to visit family, but I managed to find an aquarium to stop at along the way.

I couldn't get a good picture of the front, because they had a big tent set up for the people waiting in line. So I grabbed this picture off the internet so you can get a better idea of what it looks like.

The place was pretty much like one big room, with a giant cylinder tank in the middle, about 3 floors high, and a ramp that spiraled around the big tank. On the outside walls were other smaller exibits. A pretty cool place overall.

They had a few freshwater tanks too, but I didn't take any pictures of those. The majority were saltwater though.

I have one more video that's not working for me right now, that I'll unload again and post.

Very cool, thankx for sharing.

I didn't even know they had an aquarium there.

Glad you had a fun safe trip.

I found this pic on the internet too, because I couldn't get a good shot of the whole tank.

"The Giant Ocean Tank is 23 feet deep, 40 feet wide and holds 200,000 gallons of salt water. The water is heated to approximately 74°F, which is a perfect temperature for this tropical exhibit. This tank is so big that it was built first, and then the rest of the Aquarium was built around it."

I didn't know they had one either, I asked on the reef discussion thread if there were any good aquariums between Indiana and Maine, and some suggested this one. :) I guess there's one in Cleveland OH too, but I couldn't make it to that one.

I'm still having trouble getting that last video up. But I found this blog on their website and there's some videos in there too.
