I just bought this skimmer and it skimms great....but it's so freaking loud!!! Is there anything I could do to tone down the noise a bit?

It sounds like the pump needs to be swapped out. If you give EuroReef a call directly at 949-770-9913 they can get it fixed for you. Or if you prefer that we contact them on your behalf just shoot me an email with the first and last name of the order and we'll get it taken care of.

I did call them after I posted this. However the number I got online for them was different. I left them a message to call me back. I'll call the number you've listed first thing Monday morning.

Try giving ER a call on Monday. Or as I mentioned above if you prefer that I do, that's no problem, just let me know. If you do call and they don't get you taken care of just let me know.

Got in touch with ER rep today (thanks guys) and they are sending out a new impeller kit. I hope that will resolve the problem as I've heard really good things about these skimmers.

Have you received you your replacement impeller yet? I called and talked with someone last Wednesday and they told me they were sending it out right away. Exactly one week later I have not received it yet. :confused:

WHere are you located at? If you're on the east coast or the midwest, it is 4 - 6 business days for shipping. Assuming that they got the item out the same day, or the very next day you should be getting it anytime now.

I have not received mine yet and I called about the same time you did I think. I called and left a message yesterday but did not get a response. I'm sure they are a busy shop, but if I can't this resolved by Monday I'm going to need to return it and get something else.

It *is* skimming, but I can't stress the noise levels on this thing. I can seriously hear this thing running while standing outside my front door!
 
I'm in Dallas, Tx. I figured I'd have it by at least Monday. I called and left a message asking someone to call me back. I haven't heard from anyone yet.:rolleyes:

Blackacid - I hear ya man! It's freaking loud. My desk is pretty close to it and sometimes when I'm at the computer for awhile I just have to shut it off. It drives me crazy. HHHMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

I received my new impeller the other day and wow what a difference it has made. I really like this skimmer now. Thanks guys! :)
 
Mine is a lot better too. I believe most of the noise I'm getting now is from the pump vibrating against one of my baffles, but that is tolerable.

Got a nice cup of putrid skimmate over the past two days. :)
