New fish addition

If anyone here can give me some helpful advise it would be greatly appreciated. Ive been running a 29 gallon reef tank for about 14 years now. Last year the area I live in got hit with a severe tornado that left power out for almost 9 days....I had a bubble battery backup but not a generator. You guessed it, all my corals died and all fish...only thing I was able to salvage was the live rock. Im now starting my tank backup and even though Im going to have polyps and mushrooms, Im not putting a load of money back in the tank as far as a full blown reef tank. I already have stocked my tank with a yellow head sleeper goby to filter my sand bed and a coral banded shrimp to scavage the detris and also keep my bristleworm probelm in check, which he has beautifully. My question is about new additions to the tank. Mushrooms and polyps are only corals I will be putting back into the tank for now. I want to add a flame angel and a six line wrasse to the tank. Is there any reason I should be alarmed or careful?? I was told by my LFS that the goby, angel and wrasse should all get along but I should introduce the wrasse last since it is the most aggressive of the three which in my opinion isnt saying much on the aggression level. All replies are noted.

I don't think a flame would be happy in a 29 gallon. I have has a few of them but always in a 65 and up. They like to pick at the rock all day and im not sure a 29 would provide enough rock or swimming room. It might work out ok for you though. As for the 6 line, skip it, I had one for over 2 years and liked it at first and then hated the thing. I was glad I finally got it out after almost a year of trying. There are many other wrasses out there that I think are alot nicer in color and temperment than the 6 line. They stay about the same in size and some are only a few bucks more. Check out liveaquaira and there reef safe wrasse section just for some alternate ideas.

I don't see any reason not to get the six line. They can become particularly aggressive but I like it with the other two fish you have picked (maybe I would give be more cautious if the goby was a smaller species). Perhaps jaa1456 will come back and say why he "hated" it... he probably has very good reasons. I do agree about the Flame Angel, but I also think this is more of an opinion that is derived from what is animal friendly or not. Personally I don't think that a 29 gallon would provide enough room to make them happy either but, since they came from the ocean, can they really tell the difference between a 29, 55, 75, 125 and so on? Ever been diving? Most fish (especially angels, tangs and wrasses) use many many meters of the reef for their home. There are some that are more home bodies then others. I like Percula Clowns, Gobies, Blennies, Psuedochromises and Basslets in smaller aquariums. Just my opinion. With that said, I like your mix and am sorry about your loss, many of us have been there. Good luck in the rebuild.

I didn't like the 6 line for many reasons, It harrased everything in my tank. It would constantly attack my clowns that were in the tank before it, Any new addition to the tank it literally tried to kill, and it was attacking most of my other fish. Anything added after the 6 line had to be bigger and aggresive. I only added tangs after the 6 line. I tried to add 3 other wrasses all at once hoping it would be ok, the 6 line attacked all of them, it also attacked a cherub angel that I added. So it had to go, now the tank is peaceful with out it. And lets say one of your fish kick the bucket or you want to add one more, in a 29 gallon with that wrasse, The wrasse would make it almost impossible. And the 6 line most likely will not be one of the fish kicking the bucket.
