Anyone know what kind of angelfish this is? When I bought it the label on the tank said one thing and the receipt said something else.

Sweet new angel...not reef safe though. I thought a saw a frogspawn in the background there. Just a warning that you may lose it.

Anyone know how long it takes for an angel to start changing?

It kind of looks like a blueface juvie too. IDK The receipt said is was a chrysurus. I wonder if the bags are labeled when they come in.

What did you pay for it? There is a huge price difference between a Koran and a Chrysurus. It might be a Chrysurus, possibly a six banded. There are several angels that begin in this color form. Price should help, a Chrysurus should have been pretty high, where the others are pretty cheap.

No, they usually aren't. You send the wholeseller a list and they send you what they believe they have. At Aquarium Designs we had a few snafus with ordering, such as ordering a $300 (wholesale) Australia acan only to receive a run of the mill indo acan. With so much coming in and going out, it happens every once in awhile.

After some reading, it looks like that's not a Koran:

The Semicirculatus is a dark blue with narrow white and blue semicircular bands running along its body, becoming more arched towards the rear. The pattern will begin to dissolve into that of the adult at approximately 4 inches.

Those bands aren't arching towards the tail.

You have never been to Aquarium Fantasies have you. lol .. Normally I would say the price would help, but they are always screwing up the price or your basket. I have had them leave things out of the bag and miss price things more than once and it has happened to friends. It is crazy how they run that store. Almost nothing is priced or labeled you have to ask everytime you want something, if you want to know and then it take two or thee people to figure it out. They seem you be good folks don't get me wrong, but I think the price it determined buy what day it is. I'm not sure.

I'll look and see what the price was when I get home.

I agree...

Funny thing the tank said one thing, they showed me something different in the angelfish book, and the receipt said something different... I guess no one knows untill its an adult. Just seems a little crazy to pay hundreds of dollars for something and not be sure of what you are getting. I like the fish I guess thats what matters..

O'h and Thank for the help ya'll..

hmmm...I bought mine there also and was labeled and sold to me as a Koran Angel...I can not see the difference between yours and mine but if you can please tell me so I can know for sure which one I have

Thanks

ok...now I'm confused guess I'll have to wait til it grows up also to be sure...funny thing tho...your right about the guys at the REEF...they never know how much something is and I can almost promise you that if you ask today how much something is and wait on getting it..it will be a different price the next time you ask...LOL ...gotta love those guys anyways..been tradin with them for a year now and wouldn't go anywhere else :)

I'll try to get a better pic of mine tomorrow when lights are on so I can really look at the tail features because that may be the only difference I can see that might be different in yours and mine...in the 2nd pic of yours his tail looks almost transparent towards the end of it where mine doesn''t seem to be...(got me researching now)

LovenBama, you're looks to be a Koran. The bands are arching as they get near the tail.

But, at the same time, I was under the impression the bands arch in the juvi to adult stage, and disappear as they arch. I could be wrong though, I'm no angel fish expert by any means.

We'll know if a couple of months! Anyone want to place some bets? :)
