New fish

Hello everyone I'd like to ask about fish the thread that talked about it is now closed. I have a 72 gal. bow front in it I have 2 cleaner shrimp, 5 Snails, 8 blue leg hermit crabs, and 5 dwarf hermits. I've just finish fighting cyno bacteria and am now ready to add coral and fish and more clean up crew. I am getting 2 clownfish tomorrow , in the future I will be adding 2 tangs but not yet, so can I add more then 1 firefish at a time and how many blennies can live in my tank at the same time.

no way with 2 tangs, and it depends on the type of blenny. In all honesty I'd research via liveaquaria to find what species you like/ make a list and come back with a more precise idea of what you would like. There are so many blennies and gobys its tough to suggest.

I agree two tangs is too many, and a Kole Tang is the only species that I can think of that would work even if you keep just one. On the Firefish again only keep one unless you can find a mated pair.

you mention battling cyano. How old is the tank? what are the parameters?

I am a fan of good husbandry. 2 tangs in a 72 is bad husbandry. Be nice to the fish :)

I know it's tempting....but just because you can doesn't mean you should.

I have a 66gal and would never put a tang in there. It would be so cramped. But if you like gobies and blennies, you can go nuts (although some do get pretty big). Tangs swim all day and never stop (besides them all being huge). Blennies and gobies like finding spots and hanging out, which is why you can have a lot more of them in smaller spaces.

Tang Police are going to attack...nothing new. However, i would agree. One tang in the bristle tooth family may be ok. I had a pair of firefish in my 65 and they did great together. I added at the same time and they were just a random pair out of a tank of ~20 at my lfs. A midas blenny would be a good addition IMO

Be careful about which blennies you put together. Make sure they are compatible. Agreed, I would avoid tangs. You might look into some wrasses. There are some awesome wrasses that are reef safe and will do well in that size tank.

I will always promote the melanurus. They are just beautiful fish, peaceful, and they will watch over clams plus they eat parasites. Mine acts almost like a little puppy, he will swim all around the tank looking for pods and parasites. Today I even saw him destroy a colony of aptasia i've been trying to deal with, which is not normal but makes me like him even more.
