I heard something about feeding rotifers fermented wheat or something along them lines.
It’s the fermented sugars from the wheat that there eating.
I was talking to a guy at a local fish shop and he heard about it but isn’t sure about how to do it. he said that there doing it at the University of Minnesota.
Anybody else here this?
This sound like it would be easier than “greenwater” and last about a week before refeeding them.
and a lot cheaper

I think there are a couple of things you can feed them. However I think the nutrients in Phtyo are much greater than another source. Since the rotifers have no nutritional value it is what you feed the rotifer that the fish larvae are getting out of it.

ok, I get it now.
How “green” do you keep them? If you take a sample of mine in a 6oz clear bottle it looks almost yellow but if you shine a light in the 2.5g clear container it looks greenish brown with chunks of algae in it.
I’m feeding them now Rotifer Diet or Phyto Feast from Reef Nutrition and at $12.00 a 6oz bottle this is adding up.

As far as I know it has to be algae based food of some type for the Clown larvae. Rots can eat a few things but they won't benefit the Clown larvae. I second the algae paste... $12.00 for a 6oz bottle does add up I'm sure.

see the thread stickied at the top of the forum, enttile micrtofoods--- please find the link that says "rotifers" and read it.
You see a number of ways to enrich your rotifers including brewers yeast, but as mentioned a "greenwater" is better
