Has anyone heard anything about the new freedom filter that is a skimmer and mechanical/biological filter all in one that is used internally and found at freedomaquarium.com? This is not the diatom filter I might add, that is a completely different filter.

Thanks, Steve

That thing hangs on the indside of the tank. Thats valuble space plus that not ideal for skimmer (ie. the bottom of the tank for the intake)

I think that this product looks so poor that I'm running a thread on the "Newbie" forum on another bulletin board to analyze this product.

Like Levon pointed out, it's taking water from the bottom of the aquarium. Well, obviously the skimmable hydrophobic organics are going to be at the surface of the tank as opposed to the bottom of the tank. Additionally, look at the "T" in the tube coming off of the pump. Not only is the skimmer pulling the dirty water from the wrong part of the tank, most of the dirty water is going to go straight through the tubing and proceed directly back into the tank just like a powerhead.

If you have live rock, you have no reason to need a sponge filter in your tank for biological filtration. Regardles, my question is, "How on earth do you take those sponges out to remove detritus?"
