new frogspawn

Hello everyone. I'm new to the marine hobby. I have had my red sea max 250 running for about 2 months now. I just picked up a frogspawn about 4 days ago. Was wondering if it's normal for some heads to start to open and some heads stay somewhat closed. The flow is pretty low so it's not getting hammered. I Have Posted A picture below. Any info would help. Thanks

Looks like its just getting used to the lighting. What flow area is it in? Does not look like frog, agree with mcgyvr

It is a frogspawn for sure. I have it placed in the middle level of the tank. Not that much flow.. but I have read forums where some people are saying any flow is OK and some saying only a small amount of flow is best

So just checked the calcium level again. It is currently at 380. I am currently using the ESV calcium buffer system. I have a 70 gallon tank and it said to use 1 ML per 4 gallons at first. I already dosed the tank this morning. Is it OK to do it again? The directions just said don't put more then 1 ML per gallon in a 24 hour period. Could the low calcium level be why the other heads are not fully open? Here's a current pic.

Haven't seen any info on your lights what are you running the light looks dull in the pictures though I know how hard it can be to take a good pictures with lights on.

I have had some of my corals do the same thing. I have relocated, turned this way and that until it was happy. I am still not sure if maybe the one that was closed was getting too much flow, or not enough, or if one head just happened to be getting more light than the other. Little adjustments in location and all is well now.

But on the flip side, I also lost a coral that had one size closed up. I ended up having to cut him off due to completely closing up and skeleton showing. The remaining head is healthy and growing.

So I have good news and some bad news. The same head that has been staying hidden ended up dying. It doesn't look like there's anything there except for skeleton. The good news is all the other heads are out and happy.
