New gfo reactor

Hi all, my phosphates are rising and bringing some hair algae. I am adding a gfo reactor but I don't want to strip the phosphates to quickly. Would you recomend I have the reactor pump go on say a half hour every 2 hours at first to slowly bring down the phosphates? Any experiance here with Sps and a new reactor?

I would start out with half of the recommended dosage and go from there. I've been running mine like that 24/7.
