New gigas

weird...the mantle is pulled in at that same spot in all of your pics........

I don't understand why featherdusters would be growing on the inside of the shell though? That's a new one.

Its looking a lil better today, seems to be extending more, looks like I might have ruffed it up there with the toothbrush when I cleaned the algae off the shell.

you should get rid of the dusters ( just the ones on the shell ), they will prevent the clam from opening all the way which is a waste of energy and stressful on the clam.

the mantle should recover, it looks white on the edge there. which could already be new tissue growth, if it is attracting any members of the CUC then it is probably still damaged tissue.

I took my finger last night and gently ran it on that inside edge, wasnt small feather dusters, was little chips of the shell which I assume is from me with the toothbrush, it looks even better again today so I will take that as a good sign!!

Thanks for the help buddy!!!

Happy Holidays!

Nice T.Gigas. How big is it? Be careful with the edge of that shell. It can get razor sharp. If you cut your finger the sharks will get you ;)

The edges of mantle looked slightly pinched but that may be due to flash. Coloration looks pretty healthy and will color up with time. It will grow fast under the right light so watch out! My gigas is now well over a foot long and getting very heavy!! Also, as another pointed out, the calcium and alkalinity levels are key to ensuring coloration and overall health.

The clam is looking MUCH better, I will post a new top down shot in the next day or two. The part of the mantle that wasnt extending on the right side has now regrown out. The color is becoming more darker and the spots alot much blu greenish.

NOTHING LIKE A LIL TLC TO BRING EM BACK :)

not a top down but a shot I took earlier today

Go for it Frankie :)

I have to give kudos for bringing this thing back to where it should be. Good luck with it in the future. Obvious coloration increase and mantle inflation, good job!

Thanks everyone, I love this clam.

I have a jr gigas about 4-5" I just put in the other day, will get a pic of them together, look like twins!!
