Hi all,am about 3 weeks into cycling,ammonia has returned to zero,nitrites never left zero,nitrates are around 5.0.diatoms seem to be fading now and I have a fine green mist of green grass like algae or fern looking even.any ideas what that is and where am I in my cycle process??ty

Probably a round of hair algae, do you have lights on yet? Are you skimming? Your at or near the end just keep an eye on levels for another week or two then consider a small CUC.

Hi,yes my lights have been on ,and I have just started skimming.

In the future it advised to leave the lights off during this time to avoid algae, not a big deal though. Like I said give a a week or two more and look at adding a few snails to help get the algae down. If you are using rodi water there should be limited nutrients to feed algae until you add livestock
