New GSP?

Hi Guys! So I just received my green star polyp in the mail today from petco, and I am looking for an opinion on it from a more experienced reef keeper as I am pretty new at it all! I added a picture of what it looked like right out of the bag, is this normal and it's just closed up? Or is it dead? I'm just not sure!

Probably growing so fast it's already matted over the plug and ready to spread everywhere.
Yup. My mat started moving off the plug about 2 days after adding it to my tank. In about 2 months it has quadrupled in size. Its hanging off because its ready to spread like wildfire.

Mine took over 2 weeks to open finally after placing them in my tank....so give them time to adjust and open, they aren't dead just getting used to your water quality.

Well not sure what makes this GSP grow ,but mine is not growing at all, I'm referring to the purple mat , polyps are big and extended ,but no mat growth! :sad2:

This is very weird. Some people can't get GSP to grow and I can't stop it from growing over everything. I don't know what I'm doing on my tank, but I started with a 1"x1" frag 4 months ago or so and now it covers a 12"x8" rock I have on my tank.

I'm getting ready to take it out of the tank and sell the whole thing, as I am afraid that it will take over the tank soon.

Where did you place it in your tank when your first got it? And have you moved it since then? Maybe Mine is not in a optimal place to grow.

Mine is mid to high on the tank and I got the frag from a local fish shop. I actually got two different ones. A bright green, which is the one I have high on the tank and has taken over the rock and the other one is a bit darker and is low in the tank and that one grows very slow.

I think the secret is the light.

Here are two pictures of the GSP I have.

When I first got them both (Left is the brighter GSP and the right is the other):

Brighter green (Nuke green is how they sold it to me)

Mine is lower in the tank on its own rock, right under the lights with high flow. I feed Fuel once a week and I am actually watching it grow. It has spread noticeably further on the rock each day. It did close up for 3 days once out of nowhere and when it opened back up is when it really took off growing.
